Libraries

American Kennel Club Library
One of the largest libraries devoted to dogs in the world, the AKC Library contains approximately 17,000 volumes including bound periodicals, foreign and domestic Stud Books, art, literature, juvenile books, videos, a stamp collection, and a bookplate collection.

American Museum of Natural History Research Library
The collection contains over 485,000 volumes, including books, journals, pamphlets, and reprints and is rich in retrospective materials, some dating to the 15th century. Major topics covered in the collection are zoology, geology and mineral sciences, paleontology, history of science, anthropology and astronomy.

French Institute-Aliance Francaise Library
The Library's mission is to provide access to the varied aspects of the French language and culture. Holdings include 35,000 French-language books on all subjects for all ages and interests, new book releases including all recent French bestsellers, paperbacks, 100 current magazine and newspaper subscriptions, circulating CD-ROMs, audio-cassettes and CDs and fiction and documentary videos.

Frick Art Reference Library
Its mission has always been to gather photographs of paintings, drawings, sculpture, and illuminated manuscripts executed between the fourth and the mid-twentieth century by European and American artists; to collate with each photograph facts relating to the object’s history and present location; and to create a comprehensive research library for the study of Western art.

Goethe-Institut Information Center/Library
The library of the Goethe-Institut New York serves as a resource and information center for those interested in contemporary Germany, and for those interested in teaching and studying German as a foreign language. The library offers about 12,000 books in German and in English, 700 videos, about 1,000 audio-cassettes and approx. 150 periodicals and newspapers, as well as a CD collection.

Metropolitan Museum Libraries and Study Centers
This Web site highlights the Met's many libraries, including the Uris Library and Teacher Resource Center, which is open to readers of all ages.

NYPD -- Manhattan North Precincts
The NYPD Patrol Borough Manhattan North Web Page. From the heart of Manhattan to the northern tip of the island, the site services all areas of Manhattan above 59th Street.
