“Building the Digital Earth”
The Cornell University's Geoscience Information System Project, started in 1995, is a major initiative that targets to develop a comprehensive Geoscience Information System for the geosciences. The initiative is largely due to acceptance that existing information systems and knowledge extraction techniques are inadequate. In order to handle the changing needs of the geoscience community that is striving to understand the Earth's complex system composed of myriad interrelated mechanisms drastic changes are needed. The ways geoscientists approach solving the Earth System Science problems require a new look.

Digital Library for Earth System Education
DLESE is the Digital Library for Earth System Education, a geoscience community resource that supports teaching and learning about the Earth system. DLESE is funded by the National Science Foundation and is being built by a community of educators, students, and scientists to support Earth system education at all levels. DLESE provides:
Easy access to quality teaching and learning resources about the Earth as a system for a wide range of learners
Services to help users effectively create, use and evaluate digital learning resources
Interfaces and tools to allow student exploration of Earth data
A community center that fosters interaction, collaboration and sharing
Fundamentals of Remote Sensing
The Canada Centre for Remote Sensing is pleased to offer this tutorial on remote sensing technology and its applications. This interactive module is intended as an overview at a senior high school or early university level and touches on physics, environmental sciences, mathematics, computer sciences and geography.
